Hello all, long time no see. It's been a wicked 2 years. Now I am back into photography and I hope to be around here more often from now. To start of, 1st trip since Libya 2006 was again to a solar eclipse. This time to Mongolia. I organized a tour which was for the 4th time in a row a great success. This image belongs not to the most original, but I simply love them. The Corona can't be seen if you are not in the totality zone. That's why it is so important to be in the right spot. light from the Corona is about a million time less bright than normal sunlight. The Corona is hot gas, much hotter than the photosphere of the sun. The photosphere is where the light from the inside of the sun has it's last interaction and leaves the sun into space. That's what we see as the Sun's limb. It's about 5800 K. The Corona is about 100,000 K. How it is heated was a long-time mystery. Still it is not fully understood, but we know it is 'magnetically' heated. The detail you see in the Corona is density in the corona which are charged particles following magnetic-field lines, so you see magnetic field. This is the closest you can get an image to what you see in real life. On the net are many many images with extreme contrast, which is nice if you want to see the detail, but this looks unnatural. The colour is now a bit too blue, but it does look blue. I'll show a wide angle image next time. This is a digital creation to present what actually was visible. Feel free to comment. Nou, nog eentje dan. Dit is ook een stack. Dit maal van 2 foto's. Dat is nodig omdat de maan en saturnus nogal in helderheid verschillen (~5stops). Saturnus en de Maan kwamen afgelopen 2 Feb op 10 boogminuten van elkaar. Dat is ongeveer 1/3 maanstraal. Ik heb 2 belichtingen gemaakt voor de maan en voor saturnus en die in PS over elkaar gelegd zodat je weer krijgt wat ik door de lens zag. De foto's zijn gemaakt met een 1Dmk2 (te koop) + 500/4 + 1.4x +2x converters. Deze presentatie is een sterke crop van het origineel om Saturnus beter te presenteren. Foto van de zonsverduistering op 29-3-2006 genomen vanuit de Sahara. Wat je ziet tijdens een totale zonsverduistering is niet te beschrijven en niet te vergelijken met een 97% verduisterde zon. Je ziet bv de corona, een ijl gas 1000000x minder helder dan de zon zelf. Om de corona weer te geven op 1 plaatje moet je verschillende belichtingen over elkaar leggen en alleen de goed belichte delen selecteren. Bij lange belichting zie je het buitenste deel goed en bij korte het binnenste deel. Na uren gepruts in PS kun je de overgangen tussen de verschillende belichtingen mooi vloeiend krijgen, zoals je het met je oog ziet. Deze foto is opgebouwd uit 11 afzonderlijke foto's. Vond een boom met veel verse porseleinzwammetjes. Gelukkig 1 perfect gepositioneerd voor een foto. Dit is recht omhoog geschoten. Voor deze foto heb ik een reflector gebruikt om iets in te vullen, maar nog wel genoeg licht door de hoed te zien komen. 1Dmk2 + Sigma 150 @f/13, 1s, 100asa, FF Grz Peter Scientific name: Oudemansiella mucida

Samen met 2 vrienden en mijn vriendin hebben we de annulaire zonsverduistering mogen aanschouwen vanuit Madrid. Na 3 totale was dit onze eerste annulaire en deze was ook weer heel anders van karakter. Resultaat van een trip naar de Knight Inlet, BC, Canada. Een van de hoogtepunten van de reis. Moeder en cub grizzly aan het lopen in het lange gras langs een zalmrivier. De eerste en enige keer met goed licht. Details: 1Dmk2 + 500, handheld from boat, full frame Scientific name: Ursus arctos
